Last year I went to see the excellent Dr. Adam Stein Raleigh, NC for a cosmetic procedure which I had been thinking about for a very long time, a neck lift. After reviewing the rating for Stein Plastic Surgery and seeing the array of 5 stars that his reviews had, I knew that this would be the right surgeon for me, and I have been so happy with the results.  This is not a cosmetic procedure for everyone however so I wanted to write a little today about what you need to know if you are considering going under the knife for this procedure.

Health Check

The first thing which Dr. Adam Stein asked me was about my general health and I had no idea that in many cases a procedure like this cannot be carried out if you hav pre-existing medical conditions. Make sure that once you find the surgeon that you want, that you are open and honest about any health issues which you may have.

The cost of this procedure varies wildly and the price that I paid at Stein Plastic Surgery may be very different from the price that you are quoted. Prices change from state to state and from surgeon to surgeon so the best bet is to check average prices in your area before you make a decision.

There are two main procedures that the surgeon can carry out deepening on what result you are after. For example if you simply want the skin on the neck tightened and eliminate any fatty deposits the surgeon will use a relatively non-invasive procedure. Alternatively if you want to realign the neck muscles, this will be a more heavy duty procedure.

Recovery Time

It took me 4 weeks to properly recover from my procedure although I was able to go back to my office job after just 2 weeks. It is recommended that you avoid heavy lifting or exercise for at least 4 weeks to allow the neck to properly heal.

You will see some very small scars on your neck for the first few months but these will fade as time goes on, after just 6 months you will not even be able to see them. It is important  that you choose a great surgeon for this as the better the job they do, the less noticeable your scars will be.

The results of your procedure will stay for between 10 and 15 years before your neck will take on its natural form again. You will probably begin to see signs that your neck is returning to its normal state after around 8 to 10 years. Much of this depends on how much of a change the procedure has made, and depending as well on how old you are.

Any more questions that you have feel free to get in touch at the bottom of this post.
